“I’m On Fire” - Bruce Springsteen (Cover)
One of our favorite covers of the year so far. Sad, soft, and heartbreakingly sweet. This post dedicated to: Ryan Hopkins.

“Goth Star” - HEALTH (Pictureplane Cover)
Heard of Pictureplane? To be honest, we’re not nearly as familiar with their tunes (read: we’re just not that into them). With that said, “Goth Star” is one of their most audibly agreeable, and HEALTH has gone ahead and remixed that to covered perfection. Needless to say, the Fleetwood Mac sample goes a loooooong way in both versions…

“1901” - Birdy (Phoenix Cover)
Gorgeous.

“Call Your Girlfriend” - Robyn (Erato Cover)
SWEDEN. Blowing my mind.
Today we’re going cute and quirky with this YouTube video sensation…Three members from the Swedish vocal group Erato have somehow made tapping margarine containers uber trendy. A cappella, ftw.
“What Would You Do?” - Bastille (City High Cover)
Remember when City High came out with this back in junior high? NEVER would have thought this song would make a good cover. But wow—‘tis beautiful. The only thing missing is the Dr. Dre-esque rap interlude…
P.S. Thanks to Fi for the rec!

“Skinny Love” - Birdy (Bon Iver Cover)
Fourteen-year-old Birdy proves that sometimes simple is better with this gorgeous rendition of Bon Iver’s “Skinny Love.” Lovely.

“Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic” - Sting (London ‘10 Symphonicities Version)
Welcome to Sting’s Symphonicity…A reinterpretation of some of his classics set to the dulcet tones of the London Players Orchestra. Think Disney tunes and Hans Zimmer scores tumbled into one giant ball of classical music gloriousness.
Sting with strings. Sigh.

“Strawberry Swing” - Frank Ocean
Nostalgia at its finest. Frank Ocean of OFWGKTA—a.k.a. Odd Future—has released a solo album of his own, and it’s pure PBR&B (the new term for hipster R&B, just fyi…). This particular track may sound familiar, as it’s a Coldplay original. Regardless, Frankie O’s rendition makes us swooooon.
