“Phone Sex” - Blood Diamonds feat. Grimes

Phone sex has never listened this good. Ooh la la? We know it. In other words, thank god for this collaboration. Michael Tucker has officially won our hearts with this steel drum-heavy, Grimes-heavy, euphoria-heavy weekend tune. If you can get past the producer’s angry and intense stare [captured below], he’ll win you over too. Promise.

“You Know You Like It” - AlunaGeorge

This is our JAM. Bass line is making us loco it’s just that good. Meet Aluna and George. Aluna + George = AlunaGeorge. You’re welcome.

“Animal Baby” - Alex Winston

1) Raise your hand if you’re an Alex Winston fan.

2) Nod your head if you want to hear a virtually unknown A-Winst track that didn’t make it onto any of her EPs or her album.

3) Listen to “Animal Baby.”

4) Thank us later.

Alex Winston

“Let’s Go Home” - Carousel

We’ve gotten strange. We’ve gotten older. It’ll be alright. I miss the days when we were sober. But it’ll be alright.

[Musical] nostalgia at its best.

“I’m On Fire” - Bruce Springsteen (Cover)

One of our favorite covers of the year so far. Sad, soft, and heartbreakingly sweet. This post dedicated to: Ryan Hopkins.

“Dreamers” - Savoir Adore

We might be a tad behind the Savoir Adore train—yeah yeah, we know. They’re so 2011. That being said, stop what you’re doing, and listen to this immediately.  Like what you hear? Check out the Xaphoon Jones remix

“DJ” - Alphabeat (Madeon Remix)

It is very likely many of you have never heard of Alphabeat. SHAAAAAAAME. I suppose we can’t really blame you, as they’re known to be on the shy side (i.e. they turned down opening for the Spice Girls reunion tour a couple years back because they weren’t used to playing in front of large audiences and thought it might be “too weird”…). Hm.

Either way, consider this your Alpheducation. “A” is for male lead Anders. “B” is for female lead Bramsen. “C” is for—whatevs, we’re not going to play this game with you. Just listen!!

P.S. For some extra POP! we give you the remix, courtesy of our favorite 17-yr-old. You’re welcome.

Tennis - “My Better Self”

Patrick Riley and Alaina Moore, also known as Tennis, are the coolest couple in the indie rock game. Originally from Denver, they spent one year traveling together on a boat before deciding to record music. Their track “My Better Self” is our favourite song off their album Young and Old, so we were thrilled when they released a video for it last week. One of our friends described it best via Facebook message: “OH MY GOD. Melancholic and self-aware lyrics coupled with an upbeat melody and a nice beat … usually does me.”

“Love To The Test” - Niki and the Dove

Is anyone else totes excited for N & TD’s new album Instinct on May 14th? Because we are. After “Tomorrow” leaked a few weeks ago, we’re practically peeing in our pants with Scandinavia-induced anticipation. To be honest, every leaked track thus far has been so flippin’ amazing we’re not even entirely sure which is our favorite. That said, we figured an ’80s-esque love ballad would be the perfect start/finish to your “Tisdag” (look it up). Enjoy.

Interview Monday: Introducing // Bluebell

London duo Bluebell (Annabel Jones and Charlie Westropp) first appeared on our radar last summer, when a few of our regular reads like Neon Gold and The Guardian buzzed about the video and demo version for their song “Normal Heights.”

A few weeks ago, Bluebell caught our attention again when they announced that their debut single would be released as a double a-side through Killing Moon Records on June 11th. The single will feature a new version of “Normal Heights,” mixed by Liam Howe (who’s worked with the likes of Lana del Rey and Marina and the Diamonds, swag) as well as another track, “Cinderella.” Both songs are pop perfection, but we prefer “Normal Heights,” if only because we found the video that accompanied the demo version to be so visually captivating.

Although Bluebell is by all accounts a collaborative effort between Annabel and Charlie, Annabel is the face and voice of Bluebell. We caught up with her to ask her a few questions about herself and her music.
